Last Monday 26th April 2021, in Conservatorio Superior de Música de Aragón music seems to start winning the battle against coronavirus.
In this concert, Ismael Escribano and I played together an arrangement for 2 pianos from the great piece "Suite no. 1 op. 42" by Edward MacDowell, an American composer and pianist of the late Romantic period. He was best known for his second piano concerto and his piano suites Woodland Sketches, Sea Pieces and New England Idylls.
The Suite no.1 is originally composed for orchestra, but Arthur P. Schmidt made a great arrangement for piano à quatre mains, which we played in two pianos due to the Covid-19 situation. However, we could offer a concert with a very interesting repertoire that is not well known despite its richness.
In the next video, you can listen to the last movement of the Suite, called Forest spirits.
